If meds don't work and your mood is more or less constantly low, you might want to consider therapy with a CBT/DBT therapist. It has helped my depression a lot by giving me coping tools and practical actions I can take to (at least temporarily) feel better.

Now, I'm not sure. Maybe these swings are typical of depression. I don't swing into anything resembling manic episodes, just from mild to moderate to strong depression. Do others experience this?
