I'm just going to say one because if I try to guess four I'll just keep changing my mind.
Stephen King, because I love him. I feel as if I know him from reading all his books. I'd just like to have the chance to tell him how much his books have meant to me. The escape they provided saved my life many times, somehow more than other books.

Okay, first: my grandmother (Dad's mom) who is such a great conversationalist, I know she would keep things going and make sure everyone was included. A lost skill, I think.
Next: hmmm. William Shakespeare. I think he would have some interesting insights into the current world, given how universal his plays are.
Ben Franklin. An early humanist, humorist, and pretty cool guy.
And I think playwright Tom Stoppard. I think it would be interesting to hear ol' Bill's take on Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead.

Jesus. I'm not deeply religious, but I'd really like to know what the founder of such major religions was like. Siblings? Love interests? What was his life like during those 18 or so years that are missing from the gospels? How did he come to develop his sect? What did he look like? I bet he'd be an absolutely wonderful dinner guest.

Ooh – Martin Luther King, that's a good one too. What a visionary. I can't even comprehend what it would have been like to be a black person in his time. The image of those cops putting the fire hose on those kids just haunts you forever. What a shameful time in American history. That and the Japanese concentration camps. What the heck was going on in people's minds back then? I know there's atrocities now, but d@mn!
And don't even get me started on slavery. How could any person, at any place, and any time, think it was okay to make a human being a slave?
Okay, I may be getting too controversial here, not to mention getting on a soapbox. I might ought to shut up now.
And by the way I'm white if that makes a difference to anyone. It doesn't to me – its just pigment!

ya, after i read some of his letters. my heart just aches for him. mostly i want to talk to him, of course i have a hundred questions for him but i want to tell him that he wasn't crazy, he was in pain and suffered from bipolar. that there is medication now and everything is ok. i don't know why but i really feel a need to comfort him. (i don't even know that he would need or want it but i feel that anyway).
and that's not even to mention how much i enjoy his art style.

MLK what an incredible man of honor. such peace and wisdom surrounds him. i would probably burst into tears just to be near him.
and ya, don't EVEN get me started on all that slavery and torture camp cr#p...i could go on my soapbox for hours.
-and me too TC, pigment is pigment...i'm a nice little 1/2 breed-German/Mexican but people assume i'm caucasion...(don't get me started on that either-do ya think maybe i have some unresolved hostility here???(pure sarcasm).
