High Dose Effexor (600mg) +Wellbutrin

Posted by Ash on August 21, 1999, at 0:08:46

Hello all,

After being on umpteen A/D's without any response, my pdoc now wants me to try high dose Effexor XR(upto 600 mg if needed) along with high doses of Wellbutrin SR (upto 400mg). She says that this combination is proving to be popular for treatment-resistant depression.

I had previously been on 225mg Effexor and 450mg WB seperately with no benefit. Has anybody tried this combo? All comments are welcome.

Thanks

ASh

i think your doc's suggestion may be worth the try. I was on effexor 400mg and it seemed to help, though not enough, at the higher dose. Now I'm on a combination of effexor and remeron and this is helping more then any other drug trial I have been on. If the effexor is not affecting you negatively(esp. re. blood pressure), go for it.
But as you probably know, be very careful to taper off the high dose very slowly when the time comes. The withdrawal can be severe.
