I just started Parnate 5 days ago and I feel so dizzy I can barely walk. Will this go away and in how long?

Hi Robin,
Yes, it will get much better with time. In the meantime, try lowering your dose and then raising it up very slowly. If the
dizziness still bothers you a lot, your doctor can prescribe Florinef. I had the same problem with Nardil, and Florinef really
worked well.anita

Hi Robin,
I had dizziness (mostly postural hypotension) when I first started Parnate. I've been on it for almost 2 years now, and am never dizzy. I don't remember exactly when it stopped, but it must not have taken too long or I'd remember it!
Drinking lots of water seemed to help for some reason.
Hope you feel better soon,
Kim

Hi Robin-
I too had problems with dizziness for awhile. I had been on medication for high blood pressure and when I stopped that it helped. The postural hypotension (dizziness when standing up) can be helped by getting up more slowly and being sure that you have enough liquid.

I have sleep problems with the parnate also. I never feel like I am "completely" asleep. I'm taking 20mg of temazepam at bedtime, and it lets me get in a good 8 hrs. with little residual tiredness in the a.m. (Also correction on my last post, I've been on parnate for almost 3 years.)
I've been on more antidepressants than I can remember and parnate is the one that helped. I hope it helps, and the side effects don't get too bad. Also, there's another thread above this one talking about parnate, you might want to read that, too.
