I am an 18-year-old college student in NC dilligently seeking information regarding these two programs. I would greatly enjoy beginning conversations with anyone who is currently working in these areas or who would like to help a boy with a dream. Check out info about the "PANDAS" studies at NIMH. PANDAS stands for something like something something neurological disorders associated with strep. I don't remember the exact title, but the key is strep. They have found that a strep virus causes inflammation of the basal ganglia that causes episodic recurrent neuropsychiatric symptoms that are similar to OCD and Tourrettes. I believe the people investigating this line are also looking into other ways the neurological disorders might be related to the immune system. I am sure there are other lines of investigation, too.
