Posted by RJ on August 24, 1999, at 20:16:21

Has anyone ever heard of this medication Seroquel being used for GAD? I was told at low dosages even though it is a medication used for schizophrenia (sp)?

I don't know what GAD is, but I was also prescribed Seroquel for a condition other than schizophrenia. My doctor prescribed it for it's sedating effects. Unfortunately, it sedated me too much, and I always felt hung over. Good luck.

I took Seroquel for generalized anxiety disorder for about three months at a dose of 600mg/day, which is quite high. It did significantly reduce my anxiety but the side effects like slurred speech and thought problems really bothered me and others around me so consequently I quit the medication. Seroquel might be more useful at a lower dose for controlling GAD.
