Just wondering, for whomever wants to take a shot:
OCD (and I think social phobia) are i think supposedly maybe caused by an excess of serotonin.
So why should SSRI's work for these disorders?
Anyone know if any research has been done on anything that REDUCES serotonin (like a serotonin reuptake agonist or whatever) for either ocd or sp?

Good question Kate! I have ocd and it definitly makes my ocd worse,so I dont quite understand why they (ssri's) work for some people and not me or others.. I dont think anyone really knows what the hell is going on when it comes right down to it. Either a medicine makes you feel better or worse, and if you lucky enough to find one that makes you feel good without being addictive or too many side effects then WALLA! Do you know or does anyone know of dopamine agonists or antagonists working for ocd? or any other type of medication, new or old???? and are they ever going to come out with an opiate type antidepressant/antianxiety fell good medication? starting to ramble better go....
take care,
Rogdog
