celexa weight gain???

Posted by Matt on March 3, 2001, at 17:15:53

I have been taking paxil 20 mg. for a year now. Gained about 20 pounds, that has been impossible to loose. I just switched to celexa 20 mg cause it was supposed to have less weight gain. Has anyone had less weight gain with celexa than paxil???

From what I have been told by my pdoc, Paxil is the worst in terms of SSRI weight gain, and Celexa can result in slight weight loss.

I, too, switched to Celexa to alleviate the weight gain. I haven't gained any MORE weight on Celexa, but it hasn't made it any easier to take off the weight I gained on Zoloft and Prozac. I'm struggling with this whole weight thing as well and don't really know how to handle it. I've been on Celexa for six months now and haven't gained nor lost any weight.

I was wondering if the celexa has been as effective for depression and anxiety as the paxil? The weight game is a big issue. I have tried a few different things such as adding wellbutrin to the mix. I did have some loss but the wellbutrin seemed to have a negative effect on my depression. I am now steady on 20mg of paxil and I take xeical, but the weight is just staying the same. Hope we can share success eventually on this topic.
