I've been on all of the new antipsychotics for anxiety/OCD/and manic type symptoms. Zyprexa works the best and in fact is about the only medication that works on a consistent basis. However, they all make very irratable and angry. The benefits do outweigh the side effects, so I will remain on it for the time being. Any thoughts about possible augmentations or the reasons for my irratability.

I've had the same problems on Neurontin and Valium. I started taking a small dose of Luvox (any AD might help) and it's alleviated it quite nicely. Do you have alot of muscle tension with your problems and are your manic problems really full blown or just more anxiety related? I have been GAD for 5 years and my doc is hesitant to let me try an antipsychotic. I would like to try ziprasidone/zeldox/geodon when it comes available as it still hasn't as of this morning. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff

Doug Smith at www.skepticalpsych.com mentions an article from the literature which describes how anti-psychotics do make *some* more aggressive. As he points out, the fact that they are marketed as "anti-aggressives" and that pharma funded campaigns have led to laws allowing their forcible administration means that it is not implausible that patients who become aggressive while on the crap are subjected to ever increasing doses until they are too fried in their gourd to do anything at all, which, as I have posted before, is also associated with permanent brain damage to multiple parts of the brain. And we pride ourselves on our commitement to "human rights."
But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for such phenomena to be researched. In my opinion prostitutes who walk street corners are ethically far more preferable to all too many of the so-called "researchers" as they at the very least make it perfectly clear how you'll be screwed.
