I have been taking efexor for four months now.At the moment I'm taking 150mg twice a day.I'm now starting T3 augmentation with Triiodothyronine but I don't know anything about side effects or success rates and I don't know anyone else on T3 augmentation.I have also tried Prozac which didn't work for me either.I'm so fed up with waiting for results. If anyone has any info please let me know!

I have been taking T3 for augmentation and for treating my hypothyroidism, for a few years. I experience no side effects from it. When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism last year, my endocrinologist recommended that I split the dose of the T3 (cytomel) --take half in the morning and half in the evening, because it has a short action, and it is better to have a smoother, steadier amount in the system rather than ups and downs, both for better effect and to prevent heart rate changes. Apparently, heart palpitations is a possible negative effect that is worse with dramatic changes in the level in the blood.
But as I said, my experience has been good--no side effects, and it does help potentiate the effects of the antidepressant (I also take effexor xr).
Good luck.
There is lots more info on thyroid meds at the thyroid and depression folder (link at top of babble page).
