Can the effexor rx stop working??

Posted by Chastity on March 9, 2001, at 5:01:59

I started effexor rx (75mg) 2 months ago,it was working great and all of a sudden I'm back in my "funk" again. The sleepless nights and going off the handle over nothing, not wanting to leave the house and when I do get a couple hours of sleep it's plagued with horrible nightmares. Has this happened to anyone? No one around me seems to understand what I'm going through.

Thanks,
Chastity

Chasity

Are you taking 75mg once a day? I found that I was irritable when I took a single dosage. You can get 37.5 caps and split the dose into two and I find this helped with the irritablity. I've ended up at a dose of 75mg twice a day. It took me about three-four months to get to a fairly comfortable level. Hang in there!

Best Wishes
Willow

Chastity,
When I first started taking EffexorXR I started on 75mg and it worked well for me for the first couple of weeks then I pooped out.....I made a visit with my GP and he uped my dosage to 150mg....and after some little side affects I started feeling better...Now it's been about 2 weeks on the higher dose and I feel like I need a small additional dose in the evening.....I have kinda learned to listen to my body and I think it's telling me the dose is not strong enough just yet...both times I started feeling this way after about 2 weeks that I needed a dose adjustment.
I really love what this EffexorXr and WellbutrinSR is doing for me...(except for the sexual side affects with the Effexor) I am getting better and seem to have more of a quality of life now......Before when somebody came to my house I would ignore the knock and hide.....Yesterday my brother came over and I got dressed and visited with him....Also now I go places with my Hubby....Mind you I don't go into stores yet but I think it's all about Baby Steps....To much would overwhelm me.

Thanks for your post it helps me to see others are with the same questions as me.

Best of luck to ya!! and God Bless!!

Cin :o)

Iv'e been on effexor xr 75mg for over 2 years and it hasn't pooped yet although there have been times where i feel it has and also experienced withdrawal symptoms whilst taking it on time.Evry 2 months i reduce to 37mg for 4 to 7 days to kick it back in.Doctors seem to increase the dosage maybe little is more.
Just remembered that i have tried all the other ssri's and they pooped out after 2 weeks maybe try another.Have you tried nefazodone[uk name]it didn't poop out and sleep is wonderful, just a thought, bestofluck.
