Richardson/Wellbutrin

Hi!

I am on Wellbutruin (75mg's x's 3 a day-every 4 hours), I am also a chronic pain patient. The depression began when the pain began, but I also get post partum depression. I have had three babies, the first I KNEW NOTHING of depression and lived on the couch for two yrs. The second was a gal, I had a great pregnancy and NEVER suffered the depression. The third during chronic pain was a boy, (8 months now) I started suffering IMMEDIATLY, but 3 months is when it really kicked in. Pain DR who is a TRAINED pschyc. SAID SLEEP DEPRIVATION and did Nothing for me.

I canned him and moved onto a new neurologist/pshyc, he put me on the wellbutrin. I also have been on opioids for many yrs now, they do not cause EUPHORIA (they made me buzzy for a week or two when firt started but that went away), they say side effect of the opioids can cause the some depression, but mostly the chronic daily pain.

ANYHOW, I am doing better, feeling better, but not out of the woods. I am on DOXEPIN 25mgs at night for allergy, allegra 180, maxalt occasionaly, fiorocet (but tapering as the wellbutrin is seeming to stop the horrible daily pounding head, and norco...oh and lets not forget prevacid from the ulcers I got from all the NSAIDS IE, naproxen..)Oh and I forgot I take zanaflex at night for spasms...

Ok so, from what I read the dosage of wellbutrin I am on is not even CLOSE to the theraputic dose??? Do you think I should consult w/ dr on up'ing the dose to get a better? 300/450 seems the average dose.

Comments? Would the SR be beter, and does it let off every 4hrs?

Thanks,
Kimmom

300 mg is what the PDR says is the maximum dose for Wellbutrin, but in clinical practice, people sometimes go up to 450.

Wellbutrin SR is nice, but it never quite made the ideal once-a-day dosing schedule--so it is taken twice-a-day. You may like it better, though. Plus, the SR tablets are smaller and easier to swallow.

Have you tried Imitrex (nasal spray)? Fiorinal? {Maxalt is by far the best for migraines, though}.
