Need Advise on anti-depression drugs

Posted by mossd on June 7, 2001, at 10:25:18

Let me start by saying that I am normally happy with no hint of being depressed. This can go on for years. I’m 28 and have been in three relationships – the ends of which launch me into sever depression. I don’t get psycho, just really and sometimes unbearably sad. I feel that way now and need to minimize this downtime. Last time it lasted for almost a year. It has been several years but I have been on Prozac and a few others that I cannot remember. They either did not work or made me nuts. I have ADD and, apparently, my brain works a little differently. I am hearing good things about Effexor. I am going to the doctor today and requesting that medication. I hear you can mix it with something else to improve the effects. Anyone in my situation have any experience with this? You can email me directly at mailto:doyleburgess@hotmail.com Thank you for taking the time to answer my babblingJ Thanks.

>mossd, Remember, it's normal to feel sad over tough life events, everyone does. Be careful adding anti-depressents, as you'll find they can be a double edged sword, by reading these posts. Benefits often come with side effects...
Esp. Effexor, when you decide to come off of it. There are many, many of us who have used it, benifieted, but went through hell getting off of it. Try talk therapy first, before AD's, would be my suggestion. It has helped me greatly.
Best wishes,
James
