I think the Geodon works for depression

Posted by SalArmy4me on June 9, 2001, at 0:59:59

I've been taking 160 mg in divided doses for unipolar major depression. I have never had any antidepressant work, having tried them all twice. But Geodon has lifted my spirits, seemingly after 3 days... I may be declaring victory too early, but I like it.

Is Geodon activating, in your experience? Do you have insomnia or akathesia?
Just curious...Since most AP's are on the sedating side. Is this one different for you?
Thanks

I find it neither sedating nor activating. And I used to have akasthesia when I took it, such that I couldn't go to sleep after taking it. But now I don't have that anymore. I'm taking massive doses of it along with venlafaxine, Lithium, desipramine, divalproex sodium, and lamotrigine.

Salarmy, I hope things just keep getting better!

I started on Geodone about a week ago. I can't tell yet if it will be THE ONE. Sometimes it makes me feel like a nut, sometimes it don't :). I switched from prozac plus desipramine to prozac plus Geodon. I dropped the desip without tappering and started the Geodon without a washout period. So I think some of my misery might be attributable to the dumping of desip cold turkey.

Does Geodon make you tired when you take it? It does me, except for the first night that I took it I couldn't sleep. So I was suprised the next day that It knocked me out. I'm thinking that I'll have to take most of the dose at night.

I really hope this one does it for you.

Vince
