I just started Wellbutrin(150mg) 3 days ago. I feel high as a kite! Just as if on Speed. Not hungry & my mouth runs 90 to nothing. My doctor also put me on Neurontin, (900mgs a day.) If anybody has taken these two drugs to gether,Please let me know how you felt!

I only take wellbutrin, so i can't speak to the neurontin. But feeling like you are on speed is definitely what comes with being on wellbutrin. Loss of appetite and even thirst is also common. -Terra

The high is definitely from the Neurontin. I know that because of how many people told me that Neurontin made them high--in the beginning. It may wear off with time.

I've been on both now for many months - 300 Wellbutrin SR, 2400 Neurontin. It has been a very helpful combo of drugs. The Wellbutrin gives me a kick so I can get moving. I was having a pretty debilitating episode of depression this past spring, Effexor was making it worse. We added the Neurontin because I was having too many bad mood swings, and that did the trick. It doesn't keep me from >never< feeling bad, but it has stabilized my moods very well.
I think if youre already enervated, the Wellbutrin may make things worse, but for my type of depression, it was right.
As for SalArmy's addition in this thread, I would find it VERY hard to believe that it was the Neurontin that made you feel high, it's prescribed to do just the opposite... Just my experience and from the reading I've done...
Hope you feel better PJKirby!

I remember an old article from Salon magazine commenting on this sort of thing. Specifically, Cintra Wilson writes:
"My first few weeks on Wellbutrin were like the rocketing ascendancy of the retarded guy in Flowers for Algernon. Dogs had complex and colorful personalities. I read and memorized obscure dates in thick textbooks. My sex drive blasted through the roof, and even though I didn't climax every time I sneezed, my entire body was a joyously attuned erogenous zone. I woke up each morning with a list of productive things to do in my head and accomplished them. I walked around like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, braying popular show tunes, clicking my heels, and sweeping old women off the sidewalk in order to ply them with open-mouthed kisses. "There oughta be a law against how good I feel!" I crowed merrily out of the blue in supermarkets and post offices ... "
Well, otherwise her experience with it was apparently not great. The article as a whole, though, made me spit my coffee onto my computer, ruining my spacebar, and forcing me to by another keyboard.
This is the end of the thread.
