Hi all, I was taking Effexor for about 15 months when I finally decided to wean myself off.My doctor had prescribed it for me because she said I probably was suffering from Seasonal Affects Disorder(SAD). At first I got immediate relief within 6 weeks. Then eventually, I felt like I was on cruise control and didn't care about things that were important to handle. It was like I had just become completely apathetic about everything. I had very little sex drive and was no longer able to have normal orgasms.
I weaned myself off very slowly and started adding in Valerian, Sam-E and 5HTP. That was about 1 month ago and I still find myself losing my temper and getting upset at things that would have just been annoying even before starting Effexor. Also, I have non stop back and hip pain and have been seing a chiropractor and my doctor for the pain. I am wondering now if maybe the pain is a side effect of Effexor. I also have short term memory loss and I always have had a very good memory.
I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had similar experiences. Also, I was wondering if anyone can tell me about a lawsuit against the manufacturers of Effexor.
Thanks, Rita

> I was just wondering if anyone else out there has had similar experiences. Effexor.- RitaRita, Yes, the sex issue is very real for many of the SSRI, NSSRI's, and should end now that your off of it. You must have weaned very slowly, as you didn't mention withdrawal. I can't contribute the pain I have to ending Effexor. I don't know of any Lawsuits, others here may have more info.
I would suggest seeing an acupuncturist, as it has made all the difference in my health. So many things have improved healthwise for me since I began, which normal western medicine just could not help me with.
Best wishes,
-James

Hi Rita. I'm current trying to discontinue Effexor DUE TO MEMORY LOSS and serious tragedies associated with that memory loss. Please let me know how you're doing. I do not want to have memory loss be a side effect of quitting Effexor since that side effect is WHY I'm quitting Effexor. See my thread, Anyone having memory loss with Effexor....at least, that's what I think I said. T.T.

Hi, Rita--Someone in England has filed a lawsuit; there's more info at http://www.effexorfx.freeuk.com/. I haven't heard about anything in this country.

I am having horrible problems with memory loss. I'm still on the drug, but will start weaning myself off, my new doctor told me Effexor was probably making my bipolar disorder worse! Great!
Oh well, good luck to you. If there isn't a lawsuit against the people that make this drug, there soon will be. Too many strange things have come about as a result of this drug.Autumn
