Hey you guys, anyone had sex problems (lack of desire, performance) when taking Klonopin? I have read a couple of studies linking the two.

Neal,
Yep I had erectile dysfunction.....had all the sensation I wanted just could not get Mr. Happy up for a full salute. It started after about 4 days on the meds and progressively got worse. There is study in last weeks thread where I think Lorraine or Elizabeth actually post the study on post war wets with ptsd. They were put on klonopin, xanax, valium and the only one causing sexual dysfunction was klonopin and at a pretty high rate like 40% or something like that. This is the total bummer too....I felt better on klonopin than any other drug....more functional less depressed and no break through panics around the clock protection. But in some ways I was more functional sexually on a ssri than klonopin. At least on Celexa and Effexor I could still get it up just took a couple of months to finish. I only take xanax now and it is not near as smooth a ride as klonopin but.......my wife she is a smiling.

No, Klonopin helps with sex if anything as it lets your mind concentrate on what you're doing instead of bouncing around.
If you check the side effect profiles of the benzo's like Klonopin and the SSRI's like Cleexa, Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, etc. or monitor some of the bulletin boards or newsgroups like PDI or anxiety-panic newsgroup, you'll see that the SSRI's are famous for the sexual side effects and the benzo's aren't.
This is the end of the thread.
