I have just begun taking Effexor XR for depression. I have taken 37mg. for 10 days, and I am soaked in sweat! This is terrible! Has anyone else experienced this? Does it get better? or go away? I think I may be beginning to feel better, but this wetness is bunk!

Girl,I was in the same boat! It lasted heavily for about 2 weeks, and is now beginning to get better. I am now at 75mg,steady,and it is working great, and the sweating is letting up slowly.
So give it some time. I know it sucks, believe me. I am a hot natured person who sweats in the winter to begin with,so the sweating was killing me. But now that it is easing up,I have easily forgotten it. It may be the same case with you. I'd say give it a couple more weeks. If it doesn't ease up,talk to your doctor.
Cheers,Stef

Celexa makes me sweat - I've found that a spray-on antiperspirant with alcohol and talc helps, especially on the thighs and armpits (but not the face!!!). If you can, smell them before choosing one since some are horrendously floral. Also keeping a spray bottle of water in the refrigerator so I can grab it and mist my face at bad moments helps. Finaly, I don't go anywhere without some paper towels in my bag, since I get sudden sweating attacks - one day I had to stop and buy a roll of paper towels on my way to therapy!!!

I've been on Effexor for a couple of years, and I still have sweating, although it's not quite as bad. I usually have to "blow dry" my hairline with the dryer on cool so I can finish getting ready for work without drips. I didn't even equate the sweating with effexor - I thought it was because I'd gained weight. But come to think of it, I'm losing weight and still sweaty.
Sweating is better than feeling like S**t mentally though, right?

I've been on Effexor since 1995 and the worst times for me are at night before my period. I will wake up drenched.
I have been able to reduce this by wearing a light nightshirt and less covers.
I don't think it goes away...my doctor explained it was because when you sleep, a hormone is increased and it interacts with the Effexor to create increased sweating.sorry

> JocorHello
I have been on Effexor XR 225MG for about 6 months. I sweat terrible. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and change my shirt. I keep my house very cool, to the point where my feet are cold, but I still sweat. The benefits of feeling better mentally outweigh some side effects!Debbie

> DebbieI have found that at a constant dose of 75 mg my depression has eased, and the sweats are gradually going away. Generally speaking no one can state matter of fact that the sweats never go away. I think it is a misleading comment. For some of us it does. I hope that is of some comfort to those of you with the sweating problem.
