Will weight-gain fall-off now I've stopped Effexor

Posted by tartanprincess80 on October 15, 2001, at 15:35:53

I have gained around 25lbs over 14months taking 37.5mg three times a day.
I am now tapering off this and I'm hoping the weight will fall-off without exercise and diet, as I never before have had to watch my weight!

I walk around 2 miles about 4 times a week, and found even this won't shift the weight I've gained, so now I've stopped taking Effexor will I be able to return to my original weight easily?

PLEASE I am really worried about this!

I gained 45 lbs on Effexor and quit gaining right after I stopped taking it. I even lost some of the weight w/o dieting (maybe 10 lbs over a 12 month period). Then I went on a low carb diet and pretty quickly took of the balance of what I had put on. Hope this helps.

AD's seem to have an effect on metabolism too. YOu need to rev it up now that you are off the effexor. The walking is great but you need to do some strength training to get your metabolism back up and running. Lift weights, do lunges, push ups, squats, crunches, anything that builds lean muscle mass. A low carb diet can help in the short term but it's not good to limit carbs for a long period of time.
good luck
