Rose,The one thing that seems to concern me is why is your son taking Effexor if he is bipolar? Effexor is a very potent antidepressant and can *cause* hypomania/mania. I am BPII and also have been dx'ed with ADHD. Effexor made me very hypomanic and hostile. Adderall *didn't*. You mentioned him being allergic to Ritalin, has he been tried on Adderall or dexedrine??

your child needs to be seen by a childrens hospital doctor near you so he can get extensive studies on him .the meds he is on are to dangerious for him at his age and can damage his liver and he needs to be monitered closely. i'm sure they will take him off alot of the meds he is on now.these are meds. for an adult and the dosages are way hi for his age. they can be counter acting each other and makeing him worst. take him ASAP . my child sees doctors at our childrens hospital here in alabama and they deal with things like this all the time. that is the problem with alot of family doctors and peds. doctors they try and treat kids for add/adhd with a 15 min. apointment and never really do any major testing on them. i'm a nurse and in my opion that is what you need to do . any ?'s feel free ot e-mail me at midnightlady871@yahoo.com
