My son is 14 years old and is autistic. He has been on tegretol, zoloft and risperdol for many years. Recently he had a blood test that showed his tegretol level was at 6 (?). We increased his dose from total 750 mg./day to 900 mg. day. It helped much for a few months. He started tegretol for agitation. It seems now that for the last week or so he is agitated again. Was wondering if this dose seems appropriate, or if anyone has any ideas? Need to call the dr.on monday. Thanks

There is a "new and improved" version of
tegetrol called Trileptal. Ask your doctor
about it. Supposedly it weeds out some of the
nasties in tegetrol.-john
