I am a diagnosed bipolar II who takes Effexor XR, Neurontin, Valium, and Geodon. I just started taking the Geodon and have posted several messages here regarding initial nervousness and even an inability to stay asleep.
The GOOD NEWS is that both of these side effects have disappeared now (I'm in my third week of Geodon) and I'm taking 40 mg. twice a day. It has had a terrific impact on my moods and I really feel more like myself.
The good news is that, according to studies I've read, I don't have to expect weight gain like I did while taking Risperdal. Woo hoo!

Yes, I found Risperdal to be equally effective but I gained around 60 lbs. during the year I was on the medication. I am working hard to lose weight and just couldn't afford to be on a medicine that continually causes weight gain. Luckily, I heard about Geodon and so far I'm happy with the results.
