Hello:
I am intrigued by the use of thyroid hormone(T3) as an augmentation strategy.
I have a question I would like to ask and would be grateful for any views on the topic.
I have read that as well as being used to over-come non reponse, T3 is utilised to speed the response to an anti-depressant, decreasing the delay in onset from 2-4 weeks approximately. Can it cause hypomania, agitation, anxiety for a time until some balance is restored when used in conjuction with an antidepressant.
I would add that I think the potential for such side-effects would have to be taken into consideration in view of the severity of depresion, anxiety or other emotional problem.
Thanks in advance for any response.
