I know that weight gain is a common side effect
for anti-psychotic drugs, but is it possible even
at tiny, micro doses. I take just 2 mg's of navane
a night. I've put on 15 pounds in a year and a half,
and I can't figure out what's causing it (my eating
habits haven't changed--except that I eat slightly
LESS) and I work out like a banshee, especially the
last 4 months, and the weight won't budge. I also take
lamictal, but it doesn't seem to cause weight gain for
many other people. Just trying to figure out what the
culprit is.

Thiothixine [Navane] is associated with a low incidence of weight gain, so it is certainly possible that it is causing gradual weight gain. You might want to consider ziprasidone [Geodon], as it is associated with almost no weight gain. The problem with ziprasidone is that it is expensive, even at low doses, so you would definitely need some form of health coverage. I have done very well with ziprasidone, and have not gained any weight during the time I have been on it (since last year).

Does anyone know if the amount of Zyprexa one is on affect weight gain - the more of one the more of the other?

I know from my personal experience, that you most likely will NOT be able to get the weight off while on the med. I had that trouble with Paxil. I was on a weightloss regime of working out and eating less, and still could not budge even a Tiny Bit of weight off me, while still on the Paxil.
Once I got off it, some of the weight came off, but it was a VERY HARD BATTLE! :o( I finally had to give up due to my spinal problems. I still have about 30 of the extra pounds.
I am now on Serzone, which isn't supposed to cause weight gain, or sexual problems. I have had no anorgasmia with it, and do not seem to be putting on any extra weight.
Hope this helps.
Blessings,
RhainyC
