I been taking SAM-e 400 mg (2 nature made tablets) in the morning with a Centrum Multivitamin, Vitamin B6, & a folic acid 400mcg (100%RDA) for about 2 weeks now with little or no response.
I haven't gotten around to buying a sublingual vitamin b-12 pill yet, but am going to in the next few days.
So far I haven't had any response- I think I felt a bit better the 1st two days but then nothing after that.
How do you titrate the dose of SAM-e? (the Nature Made insert doesn't help that much). If you titrate to 800 mg are you supposed to take 2 pills in the early morning and 2 pills an hour before lunch or just take 4 pills all at once in the early morning (all on an empty stomach)?Does anyone know the duration or 1/2 life of SAMe?

Hi,
I take sam-e 1200. Unfortunately, I had to go that high to get results. But it works for me.
I take 600 in the am and 600 when I go to bed. I can do that cuz the sam-e doesn't stimulate or agitate me as it does a lot of people.
I don't remember how I titrated up. 200 a week seems reasonable.

3 beers, there is abook on same and how to use it. I used same with moderate results, but too high of a dose is very expensive. Did you drop your zoloft? I was thinking on taking sam-e but its very expensive.

I think you could probably go as fast as adding 200 mg every 2 days. Just keep in mind that for major depression, most people need 1000 to 1200 mg of SAM-e. You can take half when you wake up and half about an hour before lunch. The reason to break it up is to pevent stomach upset. The reason to take it all before lunch is to prevent insomnia.
