My pdoc has given me samples up until now of my Seroquel, and now I had my first script called in..well, my wonderful pharmacy does not stock the med so I had to wait until Friday to get it..that was Wednesday. Lucky me has not slept since Tuesday night when I took my last one..ok dumb me for waiting until the last minute to get it filled but hey we all do dumb things occassionally LOL. Anyway, I take 600 mgs. a day of the Seroquel, which yes has a very drowsy affect on me. So, pdoc gave me adderall to help to give me energy...my question in my insomniac state....whats the difference between adderall, or any other prescription stimulant than an over the counter stimulant? The otc stims seem to work alot better and keep me going longer..like the ephedra based type. The adderall, really doesn't do much for me, I seem to concentrate more on things, I can even read a book without my mind going in a hundred different directions, but it doesn't give me the energy he said it would.
Suggestions welcome..
Thank you!

Sometimes stimulants set the bar too high for what life should be. The euphoric effect and increased energy can do that. Maybe you should be thinking more along the lines of simply not being inhibited by your energy level, etc. Have you tried Provigil? It shouldn't interfere with sleep nearly as much as Adderall (which may allow you to lower your Seroquel dose) and may even be more effective for daytime drowsiness. Is insomnia the only reason you take Seroquel for? If so, you should consider something like Ambien or Sonata instead. It should put you to sleep, but won't suck the life out of you the next day.

Thank you Jon for such a quick response. No, I take seroquel for all its wonderful effects LOL. I just get the added benefit of sleeping :). I have tried Provigil, but my pdoc gave me samples and kept the dosage very low and still I didn't feel anything from them. What I do is take 300 mgs. Seroquel in the morning, Mondays I take 180 mgs. Prozac weekly as well, midday I take 200 mgs topamax, then at night I take the remaining 300 mgs. Seroquel and another 100 mgs topa. I am just really needing to find balance right now, with the meds I'm taking I do feel a balance but being either tired all the time or not being able to sleep isn't really a balance so I really just contradicted myself didn't I? LOL...guess I'm still a mess.
