going off Nardil. ill explain

Posted by ross c on December 5, 2002, at 21:31:02

by far it is a great med but at 75-90mgs i cant get away from the side effects and thats the dose range i need. it is not the best for social anxiety. i remember taking celexa and remeron together and feeling really social. id do anything i wanted to. so id rather move my bowels correctly and urinate correctly and lose this weight nardil has put on. heres what im planning in 7 days
paxil cr
remeron
klonopin
neurontin
abilify
i think this will be a winning combo
and YES i finally got my abilify filled.

What problems did you have with the original Celexa/Remeron combo (that made you quit)?

I mean no offense, but it seems that you have (going by what i have read in this forum) arbitrarily switched/stopped meds, especially Nardil...maybe im wrong, but In my experience, the side-effects of every med I have taken have gone away over time (a month or so) and it just doesnt seem like you are consistant enough with a medication, or a specific dose for that matter.

FWIW, If I ever manipulated my Nardil dose, (I took 60 regularly) I would experience all sorts of side-effects-- and Im talking about just increasing 15mg.

The combo you are planning to go on sounds great, but how did you come up with this combo of meds? I GUARANTEE that the side-effects from 5 meds will be much harsher than a MAOI (I have been on all the meds you have listed, cept Abilify, and combos of each)

At one time I was on Effexor Prozac Klonopin Neurontin and Inderal..yeah I wasnt depressed, or anxious, but I was a zombie, and crippled with various side-effects.

Abilify being a new medication, seems interesting, but for social anxiety? Im aware of Abilify having anti-anxiety effects, but this effect is simply because it is a 5ht1a agonist. Do you think an anti-psychotic (i hate that word) will help? Don't you think you are inviting a myriad of side-effects by introducing this med, along with a highly potent SSRI, a second Generation AD like Remeron, a Benzo, and Neurontin?

Regardless, I wish you the best of luck..Im sorry If the tone of this post is "pissy" but Im just saying (typing) whats on my mind.

Hello djmmm,

Maybe I should just mind my own business and let you do your thing, but from everything I've read on this message board, it seems that anyone who decides to try going on Paxil is playing with fire. For a great number of people, the withdrawal symptoms are pure hell on earth. And I agree with the previous poster regarding multiplying the possibility of side effects as you add more and more drugs. Try not to go overboard and pay attention to everything that's going on with Paxil.
Best of luck.
