I've noticed that my attention span and memory are horrid lately. I've also recently been increasing my dosage of zoloft.
Has anyone noticed that zoloft affects their attention span this way? I'm thinking of trying Serzone again to see if this helps.
It's been real sudden, any ideas?

> It's been real sudden, any ideas?You might see if you can take it at bedtime and avoid daytime doses. I always got very drowsy and stupid on it (esp. word/name-finding difficulties) for a few hours after a dose, then it would fade and I would get speedy.

That was probably THE main reason I quit Zoloft. It was good for my depression, but the cognitive problems were VERY dysfunctional for me and ended up not being a good trade-off for me. The concentration / memory problems were not transient symptoms for me -- they were constant and got worse on higher doses. All of the SSRI's tended to do this to me, some worse than others. The ones that weren't so bad cognitively also weren't as effective for the depression.
I'm now on Remeron -- not that I'm recommending that for you -- but I do not have the cognitive side-effects with this drug and my last performance eval. at work really showed the difference!

So, are you saying that getting off the Zoloft helped change your memory for the better? I'm pretty freaked out that this won't go back to normal.

> bookgurl99Yes. That's what I'm saying. Once the Zoloft was completely out of my system my memory and concentration went completely back to normal. Of course, being very depressed can affect those things as well, so the other part was getting on another antidepressant that worked but didn't mess with my memory.
Don't freak out. None of the side-effects I experienced with Zoloft were permanent.
