Hi all,
Maybe some of you have some suggestions for me. I was on Paxil 20mg for about two years and recently switched to Lexapro 10mg. I've been on it for about two months and have yet to get over the initial s/e. I just don't feel right, like I did with Paxil. So I think I'm going to go back unless any of you have suggestions for me to do something else. I also want to know if I can just switch back without tapering the Lex. I know there is know need for washout between Lex and Paxil, but will there be withdrawal?
Thanks for the help,
Mark

maybe consider switching to prozac? I've tried several SSRI's and it tended to be more energizing rather than that sleepy kind of feeling Paxil or Lex might give

I feel the same way, Mark. I felt excellent on Paxil CR (25)and only had the sse. I seem to be getting very sleepy on Lexapro, which is the same problem I had with Effexor XR(150). I can't figure out if the sleepiness is the depression or a s/e...
How long have you been on the Lexapro, and what s/e's are you having?
I think you could just switch back, but I'm not a doc.

Hi EGR,
I was/kind of am on Lexapro 10mg for about two months. I was on Paxil 20mg for 2yrs with little to no s/e. I was worried about the withdrawal from Paxil and decided to get off of it. My psych gave me some Lex to try. I wish she would have informed me that all ssri's have problems with withdrawal, something I now know. She should have also told me that if the Paxil is working fine then I should stick with it. Instead I went through two months of extreme fogginess and confusion. I switched back to the Paxil two days ago and am hoping it will kick in soon. I feel like crap right now, i.e. anxious. Hopefully it will go away. I am still taking 2.5 of Lex until I see my new psych this friday the 27th. I'll let you know what he thinks.
Take care,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Yeah, let me know what the new doc says. It DOES seem very odd that if you did well on Paxil that the other doc would have you switch. Like I said, I LOVED the way I felt on Paxil and my doc only switched me because of the sse. SHE didn't mention that it's common with just about all of them. I upped the lex... we'll see how it goes.
Keep me posted.
