For LyndaK

Posted by cubbybear on March 20, 2003, at 9:46:22

Hi Lynda,
Just wanted to let you know that I survived the odyssies to and from California (severe depression and jet lag exhaustion), stayed at my mother/stepfather's home near Phoenix for 2 weeks while they bent over backwards to ease me back into health. Meanwhile, UPS delivered my PARNATE the day after I arrived. I'm now on 40 mg/day and keeping my fingers crossed. I'm actually going to try resuming work on Saturday (part-time for starters). Whole books could be written about the trip--just to get some medication that the stupid Thai government won't allow to be sold here.
Anyway, I've come to the realization that after about 5 years, I'm going to get the wheels in motion somehow, on going back "home"--(i.e. California), hopefully within a few months. But that's another story. . .
My pdoc here is now having me reduce and ultimately eliminate my Klonopin. I've been on it since last July and I think the time has come to stop it. So we're going to go gradually, of course. I have a ways to go since I'm presently taking 3.5 mg/day.
Anyway, I just want to thank you again for all the kindness and support you gave me over the hellish weeks before my trip.
Now you can tell me how you're doing--are you still on Remeron? Same dose, etc.??

Steve!

Glad to hear from you! I suppose the parnate hasn't kicked in yet, but you sound better (calmer) already. Sounds like the 2 weeks at your mom's was good too. Sounds like you did a lot of thinking, with your decision to return to California and all. Hope your tapering off the Klonopin goes well.

Yes, I'm still on Remeron -- still taking 60 mgs. per day and doing well. What I've noticed more recently is the return of my ability to have a strong positive emotional response to something -- a good piece of music, a story or quote that stirs my soul in some way -- you know, the tingly goose-bumpy feeling. All of that was gone during my depression. Nothing reached me. It's cool to have it back -- another milestone on the path to recovery.

Glad you're back.
Lynda

Lynda,
You're right about all you said. I don't think that the Parnate has fully kicked in yet I pray it will before long. At least I'm sleeping and eating better.

Now I have an uphill battle trying to land steady and sufficient employment. I hope to God that I can save some money, or at the very least, not see my savings dwindle until I get back to the U.S.
Maybe we can keep in touch from time to time.
I will probably check the boards a bit less often, however.
Glad you're still feeling good about the Remeron.
Steve

Sleeping and eating better can go a long ways towards ones sense of well-being. I'm so glad you have some relief in those areas at least.

Please do. I'm interested in knowing how you are doing and whether the Parnate brings about the level of remission you've had in the past.

I consider that another good sign that you are doing better.

Thankyou.

Best of luck to you as you search for employment.
