The particular case is a 31 year old male who's been poppin xanax like candy for the last three months and drinking heavily for longer. Three days ago he chose to quit both COLD TURK and it's been real rough going since. It's awesome that he is getting his shit together, but from what we've learned so far, it's going to be a long process. I am especially concerned with the risk of seizures since they appear in people who have tapered off of xanax before stopping. We could use any advice.

I don't know about the xanax withdrawal, but I do know that the alcohol withdrawal can be life threatening if your friend has been drinking continously. It would be best to quit the drinking first, then taper off the Xanax. The Xanax would help him cope with any Alcohol Withdrawal. Keep an eye on his bloodpressure. Dehydration could be a problem if he get sick.
Good luck,
