I'm BP-II and when I was taking it as little as 150mg/day noticeably helped. 300mg/day worked rather well, but I couldn't stomach it. The target dose for epilepsy is 1200mg/day. Depends on how med sensitive you are. You could start off at 150mg/day, and then raise it 75mg every four days or so until you reach a point that seems to work for you or a point where the side effects are too much-then you could back off a notch and wait a while.
