I'm trying to find out what those of you who are taking an MAO-I (irreversible type) experiences are with PREVENTION of hypertensive crises:
Do you have medical literature on how to MANAGE a HYPERTENSIVE CRISIS in case it happens?
Any of you who have had the unfortunate experience of having had a H.C., did the doctor or Emergency Room offer you a head CT/MRI?
Thanks!

Your doctor should prescribe you nifedipine along with the MAOI to take in the case of a hypertensive crisis. That's the generally accepted treatment.

Hi,
Well, from what I've found on the web, medline, etc., Nifedipine seems to be hotly contested/argued about. What doesn't seem to be as dramatic is Thorazine. I wish there was a consensus in this, as MAOIs can be WONDERFUL, life-saving drugs.
