I'm afraid that it will turn my mind to mush or that i will screw my brain up and be depressed without them . Or maybe like heroi and blow , I'll burn out all my pleasure receptors or something. The point is , there seems to be no studies of long term use of these things and my OCD tells me that in 20 years we'll be the legion of ssri zombies on farms somehwere in the azores

G'day Buddy,I certainly don't feel extremely confident about SSRIs. I have many studies at home that indicate that they can cause long-term neurological s/effects. Keep in mind that these studies are mostly on animals, but.
I personally will never take an SSRI. Check out some dangers on SSRIs by searching the web, but try to keep an open mind.
Cheers,
Ace.

I believe that SSRI's, starting with Prozac, have been widely used since 1989. Eventhough that's only 14 years, I think that SSRI's will prove to be safe over the long run for 2 reasons:
1) after 14 years, with so many millions of people using SSRI's, you would think that at least some would show long term adverse effects if there were any
2) MRI's of the brains of depressed people show an abnormality (a shrinkage) in a certain region which goes back to normal after SSRI usage.

Depression will damage your brain, lots of long term
info on that ! We do not have long term data on most of what we put in our bodies. Few question that, so I will never understand the hyper vigilance for something that, for me, is a cure. 50+ years of data
on TCA;s seems to comfort few. Depression kills brain and neurological cells & depression kills in other ways to. Give people meds that can halt this process and they want long term data. No problem with this, but why the consern now ? Why not worry about the well known toxins that we all consume and do not question.
This is the end of the thread.
