Hi Everyone,
I am freaking out a little bit. My boyfriend was just prescribed Aderall. His Doc said that he had an unidentified attention disorder. He was Rx 20mg 3 times a day. I do not know a lot about this drug and am just now starting my research. I personally am on 5mg of lexapro (after going all the way to 20mg)and I am really anxious that he is going to change or be a zombie. Can someone share their experiences. I really need some input!!! Thanks so much!!

Hey Lexy, my ex-husband took that after switching from Ritalin a few years ago. He had ADD all through high school and college. By the time we were out of school and in the real world he was a nervous wreck. He was all over the place. Skipping from one job to the next, new ideas all the time (big life changing ones too!) - just a very adventerous spirit I guess but it was too haywire. I couldn't notice too much a difference in him when he took it except that he got thinner because it kills your appetite. He said that he felt more focused and had more of an ability to concentrate - so that is great since that is what it is supposed to do!
He isn't on it anymore. He said as he got older he learned how to deal with the ADD more and what he needed to do to stay focused.

20mg might be a high starting dose, especially 3x/day. I wouldn't worry though, it's not like the AD's... just stop taking for several hours & it wears off leaving you right back where you were. I'd advise starting on 5 or 10 mg. It'll either work or not, you probably will know right away or in a few weeks for sure.
