Hello Chemist
I am new to this site and enjoy all the info, insight and knowing that I am not alone with all the physical and mental issues of depression and medication.
I notice that you are kept very busy though and am feeling curious as to the name "chemist". Indeed, you are a wealth of information. May I respectfully ask if this is your occupation?
Regards
Sabrina

hello there, pleased to make your acquaintance...i do have to state that i am far from the grand oracle of knowledge here, and that many posters are very much more in-the-know than i am...in response to your query, i hold a ph.d. in chemistry, and work (broadly speaking) in the fields of biophysics, drug design, and applied mathematics, all in the theoretical realm, i.e., computational. i have had my stint with bench chemistry, although have not been in the lab for any great amount of time since the mid- to late-1990s. i do hope your query is answered, please do let me know....all the best, chemist

hello there, it occurred to me that my short bio contained in the previous post might give one the idea that i am in the employ of a pharmaceutical company, and that certain opinions of mine are swayed in that regard. i have contracted in the pharmaceutical industry in the past, have a relationship with a privately-held company that is non-compensatory presently, and do not own stock or any interests of any kind in any company involved with the manufacture, marketing, and/or sales of drugs/compounds that are discussed on this (and other) forums. hence, in addition to noting the more important facts such as that i do not hold an M.D., i have no motives for opining one way or the other in re: various medications.
i have a distinguished track-record of being incorrect a great deal of the time, am frequently absentminded and/or misinformed, have been known to be irate and nasty in my posts, am periodically asked to please be civil or blocked entirely from posting on this site, have in the past and present offended many people in numerous ways, and will almost certainly not fail to do so in the future.
okay, i cannot say i haven't warned you! i do take far more than i give here. i do try to offer information for which i can, if asked, provide factual references in the refereed literature or, failing that, my one-sided opinion. all the best, chemist

Chemist, dude, you gotta give yourself some more credit here. I had to laugh at your negative references to yourself, as you clearly are a benevolent and very knowledgeable/intelligent person.
(By the way, after finding that information on the net regarding a dopaminergic add-on to my prozac, I had forgotten that you had already suggested I add a stimulant. Sorry.)
Amy :)

Hi Chemist
Well, having my first cup of coffee this morning, I have certainly enjoyed reading all the banter my original post has produced. You answered my question quite adequately, more so though, I like your sense of humour!!
