Hi:
For me, the brand/Wellbutrin SR and 'generic form of WB sr./Bupropion SR is EXACTLY the same effect and plus, S.E.s.
I wonder why this, 'bad effect along with S.E.s.' occurring to you.
So far, I've been on 'two' different manufacturers, ... one is Watson and other is, Eno., I believe. Both are VERY reputable 'generic' manufacturers. There are 'eight' different 'generic' manufacturers here in USA.
If this, 'bad' keeps nagging you, you need to talk to your pdoc. ASAP. Because, upon changed from the brand to the generic, I confirmed in this respect by asking my pdoc. seriously. Because, I simply do NOT like to waste any money as knowing all of those psycho. meds. are VERY pricey.

Belive I'm taking the Eon version. They are smaller and dark blue, and smell sweet. I'm eating lunch right now and having a hard time chewing. Been take generic about 2-3 weeks. I also take a considerable amount more of generic, like 400-500 mg, or else I wind up sleeping all day. The first week or 2 generic was same as brand for me, even a little better than brand. I've already ordered more brand. No I didn't tell the doctor, because I still have a prescription. Also since the generic version my moods have been getting much worse. I had to increase other meds. Anyways I still have to take generic for atleast another week, so I will have more time to test it.

Hi Sebatian:
At first, I took Watson, then got 'Eon.' through mail-order/three months' supply. Personally, I love the latter, because of 'nice' color which is quite similar to the brand one. Although this is just 'cosmetic' reason, but if you're taking every day, ... this 'nice' color is VERY appealing to me, like 'nice-make-up' before going out. Maybe, it's funny to you/male, but still important to me/female.BTW, for me, both Watson and Eon does not give me any trouble in regard to 'efficacy' and 'S.E.s' Are you med-sensitive to some of psycho. med.? Because, in reading, I found there is a VERY slight difference during its process/making generic. Also, in my recollection, you've been on 7.5 mg./or 10 mg. Zyprexa, then is this something to do with WB sr/generic? Because, I had no problem of taking the Serzone 450 mg.(mass dosage) with other meds. before, however I started to develope some 'resistence' or something related to it after taking the generic WB sr. Afterwards, I needed to quit the Serzone totally. Since late this summer, I started to take 'Trazodone' for the replacement of the Serzone, which is OK to me tho'. So far, it seems to me WB sr/generic and 'Trazodone' goes well. Then, you need to look at other meds. which do not go well with the generic version of WB sr.? But, I too agree that you keep taking the generic WB sr., because, in my knowledge, almost 99% WB sr./generic WB sr.takers seem quite happy on the Bupropion SR.

I just increased to 10 mg zyprexa and 60 mg celexa. All this after the change to generic. Not sure if there is a conection?

Hi Sebastian:
Frankly, I have no good clue on this, ... 'connection.' It has some, ... but not 'that' much effect due to 'generic' WB sr. In my case, a discontinuation of the Serzone was partly because of my pdoc.'s advice on the 'liver.' He seems not to stay me on the Serzone for long time(I was on it for about four years), particularly after the brand one was discontinued. There was some 'connection' between Bupropion SR and the Serzone, but not to the extent, in my guess.Personally, I love this, 'generic version,' partly on the money-saving, and also works as well as the brand one. However, in your case, there might have some 'sensitivity' issue. Like I said, from what I read, there is a VERY slight difference between the brand one and generic in its process/making although those 'substances' are exactly same as the brand one. Normally, we do NOT see this 'miniscule' difference, but if your are 'med. sensitive,' then this 'slightness' matters you a lot. It's expensive to get the brand one, but rather than 'wasting' money on the generic, possibly going back to the brand one is better?
In my case, it does not bother me either generic and brand, because three of four meds. I've been on are all 'generic.' Just, the Zyprexa is 'brand' one. Lithium, Trazodone and again WB sr are all generic. But, still expensive. Luckily, all of my folks are quite nice to me.
Hopefully, you will find a good answer to your 'puzzle' in regard to Bupropion SR soon!

It turned out that I was taking too much of the generic. And or taking too little of the generic. Now I take in the middle, 4/100 mg pills a day. Much better, think I will stick to the generic.

It's interesting to hear about your experiences with the generic buproprion. I've been following a spontaneous blog about this at www.thinkless.org where a lot of people who got switched from WB to the generic are having lots of problems. My insurance company just stopped covering WB and I will soon have to switch to Budeprion (the generic brand), and I'm afraid... I was thinking about overlapping the two for a couple of weeks (ie taking WB in the morning and Budeprion at night). Any thoughts...?

That would probably be the easyer way. I will worn that the generic seems 1/3 weaker. I take 400 mg instead of 300(brand), considering 450, but 500 was too much. It is a little bit different to get use to, on top of the strenght. I had bad moods for the first month. Now sure this was in trying to find the dose or just reacting to the difference in the medicine.
This is the end of the thread.
