Cigars and nicotine -- bad for brain, bad for bp?

Posted by AMD on November 10, 2004, at 19:30:03

Folks,

I have smoked a couple cigars in the past two weeks, and have started wondering if these are dangerous to my health as a BPII. I hear they have a ton of nicotine -- will this upset my mental balance? I have been feeling pretty level lately, and don't want to jeoparadize it. I smoked an Onxy Reserve last night and then felt guilty about it -- and I've had a major headache today, dragging around as well. Very sleepy. Related? Are cigars extremely toxic?

I've often wondered the same thing. I have BP and occasionally smoke a cigar or a cigarette. The next day I think I feel a little depressed. I think it’s worse with cigarettes.

I smoke a couple of cigars each day (Punch Rothschild, or Partagas), and find that they help me a bit, in that I give myself a half hour break from my very busy schedule. I use this time to reflect on my mental state, my family, my work, and my progress.

I suppose I could get that half hour another way, but having a stinky cigar keeps folks at bay :)

As colder weather approaches, I usually cut down on my smoking as I only smoke outside. I've been feeling great lately, so I'm not changing anything :)

I think that there is some research showing that nicotine prevents alzheimers, and parkinsons (maybe).

Thats if we don't die of cancer first, of course...
