Hi guys
I take 750g Seroquel, 450mg at night and 300mg in the morning. My problem is that it makes me SO TIRED. It really is ridiculous. It's fine in the evenings of course, but I wake up at 6am-ish, take my morning dose, and then I fall asleep until about 1pm in the afternoon!
I've tried everything, even setting my alarm to wake me up extra early to take the dose, but whenever I take it, it seems to wack me out for a good 6 hours.
It was so annoying over xmas. I got out of bed but then slept on the sofa while everyone was opening their presents! Once it gets to 1pm, I seem to suddenly snap out of it, and then I'm fine. It's weird.
Anyway if anyone has any advice, that would help.
Cheers, and merry xmas. xx

You probably don't want to hear this but my pdoc prescribed seroquel once as a sleeping med for me. It only took 75mg at night to knock me out. I can't even imagine taking the dose you're on... I'd look into finding another drug that may offer you the same benefits.

Hi Pretty!! :-)
Would you be willing to try a less sedating antipsychotic such as amisulpride (Solian) ?
Hope you had a good Christmas!

You may want to ask your pdoc about Geodon or Abilify. They will not make you tired or gain weight like Seroquel.

Consider adding low dose Abilify- this is known to be energizing. Failing that, you could try small doses of Ritalin....
Good luck, and stay awake!!!

Hi Pretty,
Yes, Abilify might be useful, Geodon isn't available in the UK. Ritalin might make you feel paranoid, it's usually contra-indicated in psychotic disorders.
Happy New Year's eve!

Hi guys, thanks for your posts. I set my alarm for 5am this morning and took my tablets early, and I woke up at about 11am. So I'm gonna set it even earlier tommorrow. This is only a temporary solution though, because I can't get to see my doc for another two weeks. I think in the long term I'm gonna need to change to a different antipsychotic altogether. I think it'll be Abilify next. Hmm.
Well we shall see how things go. xx

I would be in a coma on the dosage you are taking. It's well known for knocking people out.Are you taking it for psychosis or is it to augment another med or are you bipolar or none of the above?

Hi,
I'm taking it for psychosis. I'm a bit worried about mentioning the tiredness to my psych as I'm worried she'll just decrease the dose, instead of trying a new med. This would be bad for two reasons: it still made me tired at lower doses, and secondly, it is a good antipsychotic and it has got rid of the majority of my thoughts. But still, it isn't perfect. And I only got the good benefits of this after going up to the 750mg dose. So decreasing the dose will just make me tired and crazy!!! instead of just tired. Hmm.

Hmmm. Well hopefully your body will adjust or you might have to add some provigil or try abilify alone.
Good luck to you.Maxime
