What is the difference between xanax and ativan. I currently use ativan to sleep and if anxious...most people I talk to take xanax...I was wondering if anybody knew what the difference was...thanks.

Hi, the only thing i know is that it seems to be a completely different animal. I took xanax for years and got switched to ativan, it did NOTHING for me. So, perhaps depending on the dosage it may work for you. But xanax is great if you have anxiety disorder or panic disorder.
