As far as the previous posts that you may have browsed throught, i had been having a feeling my thoughts were losing control, losing reality, sort of a disconnected feeling, i cant determine if this part of psychotic synodromes, or dissociative disorder, becuase of the exteremly high stress that was happening during that period.
My psychiatrist has gave me samples of Respirdal, they are very odd, feeling of complete "numbness" sort of of my thoughts, i defintly dont feel myself.
But i have described him this paranormal phenomenaon of how dexedrine seems to stablize my thought patterns, from complete chaos to a...... reenforced grip on them, a strong feeling of " I am in control, and nothing is going to stop me" very very odd, we disscuessed much, asked me repeated times "are you sure, becuase this medication excacerbates psychosis and other disorders",
I've been referred to a nuerologist for more advanced investigation, an MRI, and EEG, are going to be preformed, i argued much with him about getting a PET scan since it is known to detect thought disturbances, but he said it is only used in studies and researches.
That frustrates me.I currently take 45mg of Dexedrine daily which seems to keep me from thinking im going insane, before an attack, Klonopin will only take the edge off, not the feeling of instablity.
I know Dexedrine increases dopamine levels which dopamine increases drive, and maybe a sense of control.
Can anyone maybe talk with me about this?

> I know Dexedrine increases dopamine levels which dopamine increases drive, and maybe a sense of control. This is just my experience but I used to take speed occasionally and certainly it does give a feeling that you are in control and confident and sorted. BUT its just a drug effect. From the accounts of people around me although to me I thought I was intelligent and articulate whilst on speed to them I was babbling nonsense. In comparison whilst on antipsychotics I often think I am dull and quiet unyet the same people think I am pleasant, interesting and tolerable. I guess I am saying that the way we feel about ourselves on a drug and the way we are perceived can be very different, I would also say (as I tried to in my last post) that antipsychotics are very varied and just because one is intolerable doesnt mean all will be. I have taken Stims since being a teenage"Hippie",back when you went out and"scored"anything that was illegal or that would be percieved as mind-altering.That,s what hippies did.(At least, the ones that I hung out with.)I grew out of that phase and got married, cut the hair, went to work, etc. One thing I did not forget was how different I felt when ever I took"Speed"(Dexies,Black Beauties, etc.)All through school,I always had concentration problems, sitting still, not talking, all the classic ADD signs, but was never diagnosed, only punished for being"bad".Flash Forward 25 years.I finally end up diagnosed with ADHD and given Stims.Tried Ritalin,Provogil,Adderrall, then Dexedrine.I now take Dexedrine 30mg x 2 every day. After about 14 days of it,I start to get really tired and cranky,I think the side-effects start getting the best of me.I,ve begun taking the Dex for 3 weeks on,1 week off. This keeps me from burning out and getting an out-of-control tolerance to it.I,m self-employed,so during the first few days of that 4th week,I stay crashed out to build myself back up.After a few days,I,m OK,at least for another few days,I can start back on the Dex and feel half-decent for another few weeks. This pattern works best for my situation, most of the time, but I do fear the tolerance and long-term effects of constant Stim use.Festus
