Klonopin and anger/temper

Posted by chess on January 9, 2005, at 9:22:07

After I take Klonopin it seems that I feel almost angry and that my temper is ready to flare at the slightest irritation or aggravation.
Anyone else ever feel this way when taking Klonopin?
I've taken Xanax before which didn't cause this.

Actually as expected it relaxes me within a half hour or so. When I approach my next dose my patience level seems to deterioate, on account of the withdrawl effect. That's a strange reaction you're encountering there I believe.

Is it right after you take it or is it a few hours after you take it? If it is hours later it could be due to rebound anxiety as the klonopin wears off.

I've gotten that type of paradoxical reaction to Valium, but not Klonopin. All benzos are definitely not the same. They generally are disinhibiting which sometimes makes it easier to go off on somebody. I've gotten a little "sullen" and grumpy on K a couple of times, but not consistently so. I never got any kind of paradoxical reaction either from Xanax or Ativan.

A couple of hours after I take Klonopin I start to feel kind of crappy, like anxious and agitated, I was wondering maybe it's the Klonopin or maybe it's me being anxiuous about taking medication, but on the other hand I definitely don't have that reaction with XanaxXR, after I take XanaxXR I feel a little less anxious and also a little less depressed, so maybe it is the Klonopin and I'm one of the minority that has a paradoxical reaction to it (which stinks because generic Klonopin clonazepam is so damn cheap compared to XanaxXR)

That's an unusual response. Pretty sucky, huh?
I wonder if you dosed Klonopin differently, it wouldn't happen.
How much do you take, and how often?
Some people take a low dose 3 or 4 times per day. You might be a fast metabolizer and need an even amount in your body to achieve a steady-state.
Perhaps that's why Xanax XR worked for you.
Take care
Jas
