Posted by mmcconathy on January 10, 2005, at 21:05:58

Just read my posts above and you will get an idea of what my life is like right now,

Dad calls me nothing and a fagget
I'm trying to get to collage
Social Problems
My mom is about to burst

For a short period can this help me?

I am so sorry that you are having to endure such treatment. Nobody deserves that. Your dad obviously need help, but that is not the issue here.

Xanax is the only benzo I have ever used, and I have found it to be remarkably calming without causing sedation. I also feel more confident when I use it. I have only ever needed a small dose.

I hope you find some relief soon. Try to be strong and hang in there in the meantime.

Take care of yourself.

hey mmcconathy-- i'm really sorry about all you're going through. i don't know about the xanax, though. i've been on quite a lot of it for over a year, but benzos in general help me more with physical anxiety or else in reigning in really racing thoughts than in helping my mood. i've never taken to therapy myself, so i'm not the best person to suggest it, but if you could find a good therapist with whom you feel comfortable talking about these things, someone who would be on your side without fail, i think that would help. also, maybe an antidepressant or a mood stabilizer-- at best, they can lift your mood and make you more resilient... less positive but maybe also what you need-- they can numb you enough that you just are sort of lost in your own world and indifferent to stuff like the insults you're enduring. i hope everything works out for you.
