After reading the Posts, and after my own experiences do any AD's actually work? It's been so long since I felt good that I think I've forgotten what it feels like. Anyone else feel this way? Phillipa

I went through a few ADs before I found any that worked for me. I went through Celexa, and Zoloft. But Remeron was the first AD that worked for me. Then I discovered that Wellbutrin works as well. I think it just depends on which neurotransmitters are affected in your depression. For me, SSRIs just don't work because my problem is probably with dopamine. Don't give up, there are so many out there. Which one's have you tried?

Paxil, Luvox, Prozac, Celexa, Lexapro = Seratonin
Effexor, Cymbalta = seratoin and norepinephrin
ludiomil = tricyclicI doubt that any of those would have worked for me either. Maybe you could try Remeron. It has a horrible weight gain profile, but if you know that in advance or can combine it with something it might be avioded. Wellbutrin is also a good one. There is hope still!

I will never forget how imipramine saved me from a real horrible major depressive syndroms..and was my first ever AD.
However, looking back, I think that I should not have stayed on an AD for longer than 3-6 months,as in my case, their side effects out weight their benefit dramatically.
Now, I do not believe in having to use an AD longterm or a lifetime....
IMOHO apart from real major depression,AD's are better avoided....I found that some benzo use are enough for other lesser problems such as GAD,social anxiety ..etc (I have had all of them)bec nothing could be as close as a full- blown major depression.
Just my opinion,nothing more,
Dark Horse.
