Terrible shape, what are these symptoms??

Posted by linkadge on January 12, 2005, at 15:56:17

I am taking zoloft and depakote. If I stop the depakote I get the worst problems. It feels like my body is "everywhere". THe worst headaches etc.
Why me?

Mood-stabilizer withdrawl

I'm curious about those kind of symptoms, too...when I tapered off trileptal, the taper had to be slowed down b/c of similar symptoms. Now that I'm off and using abilify as my mood-stabilizer, its not a problem; if I forget my meds one day, I feel OK the next. Why do try to stop depakote? Are you in the midst of a taper? How much do you take, BTW? My doc pushed depakote for a while...he wanted me to take 1,500mgs, but I couldn't even handle 250mgs without getting sick, and 1,500mgs seemed like a huge dose. Good luck!

I was only taking 125 mg, but I feel that it was making me dumber than I normally am. Now that I'm off of it I feel like like my head is the size of a giant balloon.

I guess seizure like problems, correct? Withdrawal of antiepileptic drugs can trigger seizures. I have read on some places that this "out of the boday" experiences are of epileptic origin. Could be very complex partial seizures you get. + your doctor said she/he thinks you have a temporal lobe problem too....

Just my opinion

The only reason I hate anticonvulsants is that these drugs will exert an effect on many more parts of the brain than may be out of controll.

Hi Link!

That's probably the case with all psych drugs though. I still think Lamictal is worth trying.
