long term side effects of effexor

Posted by strykerdog on February 13, 2005, at 8:40:32

I have been taking 150mgs of effexor for 3 years. I have been thinking of weening myself off of it now for awhile. I wasn't aware of any long term side effects. Any suggestions of what to do?

Hi,

If you are going to continue with an AD you could give cymbalta a shot or remeron. Even short term these may minimize any withdrawal. Good Luck JN

Hi,

I have just cut down from 300mg to 150mg in a single drop.
I have had hardly any withdrawal.

It's been fine

Whew! I get nervous whenever I read about a med I'm taking or used to take and long-term side effects. As for getting off Effexor, there are plenty of tips here and on the new Dr Bob Withdrawal board at http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/wdrawl/

Basically, don't discontinue too quickly or cold turkey!
