Just came back from my pdoc appt. I said depression is under control but anxiety is still there. He stated that although Strattera isnt the best alone, when used as an augmenter of Adderall it serves to lessen anxiety. Anyone have that experience?

Hi banga!
Since you're on desipramine, I really don't think adding Strattera would be helpful.

Hi B!
Btw, did you discuss fluvoxamine with your new pdoc? What did he say?
Does he want you to come off the Lamictal and Abilify?

Thanks Ed, I thought it was an odd suggestion myself...I told him quite frankly that I had not heard good things about Strattera.
I discussed my thoughts on choices for anxiety in a way that he could understand I had good background knowledge and that there was logic to my conclusions. He agreed to try fluvoxamine, though I could tell he'd rather have added the Strattera. He did also mention buspirone, but with its iffy effectiveness record I didn't want to go that way either. It's nice to have a pdoc that listens and respects my own advice!! :)

LOL just answered one of your 3 questions....I am trying fluvoxamine while I wean off Lamictal, he also is convinced it probably is not adding much. The Abilify stays for now, with (my suggestion) the thought that if the Luvox works, I could discontinue it.
BTW, he said something about Abilify producing dopamine release?? Have you heard that? I do know its effect on D2 receptors is a mixture of agonism/antagonism, but I had not heard it actually causes dopamine release...maybe I misheard him. Need to check my hearing.

I've been on Adderall for 2 years, my doc added Strattera about 3 months ago--the combination works better than anything so far for my ADD
