i read that lexapro is part of celexa. is that true?? if it is, then i am happy b/c i was on celexa years ago for a few months and had a great effect. i dont remember any crazy side effects or anything. i do remember it worked really good for not getting upset over everything bad that happened. if that makes sense.
so if anyone knows, i was wondering about that statement. it said that lexapro is the same as celexa, without the side effects. ;)

Lexapro is just the Celexa molecule cut in half. At least that's the way it's marketed. They say cutting the Celexa molecule in half lessened some of the bad side effects of Celexa (anorgasmia, etc.). I found that to be true while on Lexapro. But I also found Lexapro to be "weaker" or less effective than Celexa. It was like some of the benefits of Celexa were removed too. However, in the marketing of Lexapro, the drug was first said to be 4 times stronger than Celexa (i.e. 10mg Lexapro = 40mg Celexa). But in my experience, this has not been the case. I'm sure others will have various opinions on this matter. Everyone's chemistry is so different that...it's hard to make generalizations. I wish you luck again.

well thats good to know. makes me feel a little better about starting an unknown AD. thanks for the info. hopefully, the small dose will work for me. :)

Everything Chris said is accurate.So just imagine that Lexapro is Celexa's twin sister except without a crooked nose.

I can't tolerate either since they mess with seratonin but it might just be the ticket for you!

Yes, it's supposed to be a stronger version of celexa. I too, was unable to take either. Fondly, Phillipa
