Hi All,
I've been taking 60mg of Cymbalta for the last 6 months. It takes the edge of but is not nearly as effective as I'd like. Has anyone had better results at 90 or 120mg? According to Eli Lilly, going higher in dose than 60 is not supposed to make much difference. What's the highest anyone has tried? Also I take it once per day in the AM. Has anyone had better results at twice per day?
Thanks!
Peter

You're right Eli Lilly doesn't recommend higher doses than 60mg. But, other Posters have found that they had good results at 90 or l20mg. I didn't have any luck. Fondly, Phillipa

I've had luck at 120.

The same was the case with Lexapro. The company said that higher doses don't give better results. Just ignore that stuff. When they do these clinical trials, they only last 2 or 3 months.
Many people who do ok on a low dose at the end of the clinical trial will eventually need a higher dose after the study has concluded. So the drug company will not know about it.

I'm having an excellent response with 10 pellets. Sometimes a low dosage will have unexpected results. But I'm bipolar and 30mg sent me through the roof. This Cymbalta is interesting stuff.
Don't go too high with an SSRI - it can cause long-term problems. Sometimes adding a mood stabilizer helps to augment things. I happen to love lithium and don't need much for it to make a huge difference. This is relevant for non-bipolars as well. Fish oil has a good rep for enhancing AD meds and is good stuff anyway. And then there's just throwing in the towel and admitting that this med ain't working and time to go searching again.

I'm curious (and bipolar, too: BP2): Do you take any other meds? Specifically, do you take a mood stabilizer?

**Yes, I take 600mg lithium and it works great for me. Have tried lamictal, depakote, topamax but come back to Li every time. Without it I experience hellacious mixed-states. I'm mainly prone to depressions, although I've had some corker manic episodes, so a small dose of an AD helps keeping it at bay.I truly feel that BPs can benefit from ADs, but at much smaller doses than most pdocs will believe. Lithium also augments most ADs.
