A little while back, everyone was talking about their mirapex trials, now everones onto Selegeline. Whats the deal. Is mirapex a no go? Is anyone still on it ??

Totally different mechanisms of action. The problem with DA agonists is that they tend to reduce DA release via autoreceptor stimulation (anyone ever try a DA agonist + amisulpride?). IMHO, mirapex in psychiatry is best looked at as a mood stabilizer with AD properties. It's also probably not half bad for the libido.

I've never hear mirapex reffered to as a mood stabalizer, I was under the impression that psychosis is a fairly common side effect.
Thats what we need, a potent and selective dopamine autoreceptor antagonist.
